Matthews, NC, Woman Killed in Sunday Crash

Robin Sossamon, a beloved woman from Matthews, NC, was killed in a car accident on Highway 601 North in Union County on Sunday evening.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened between the intersections of Pennigar Road and Unionville-Indian Trail Road, just after 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The sheriff’s office said that Sossamon was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Highway 601 when she crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 truck traveling northbound.

Sossamon was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the truck was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but deputies said that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Sossamon was a well-known and respected figure in the beauty industry in Charlotte, NC. She worked as a sales manager for Clinique at Neiman Marcus.

She was also a devoted mother of two children and a faithful Christian who loved the Lord.

Her family and friends described her as a kind-hearted, generous, and joyful woman who had a positive impact on everyone she met.

Social Media Tributes Pour In for Robin Sossamon

Many people took to social media to express their grief and condolences over Sossamon’s death.

Her niece, Haley Locklear, wrote on Facebook: “My Aunt Robin Sossamon passed away Sunday evening, and it came to such a shock and it broke my heart, she was the most kind hearted woman I have ever met. Her laugh lit up the whole room up and her smile could make anyones day, I will truly miss you and I will see you again one day you were loved so much and had so much love for the Lord and I hope to be like you when i get older”.

Another friend and colleague, Tanya Jones, wrote: “This is a sad day in the beauty industry in Charlotte NC. She taught me so much from the time I was a Business Manager for Clinique and even more when I was a Sr. Territory Manager for Carol’s Daughter. No matter how tired I was I could walk into Neiman Marcus and she would always say, ‘What’s up girl, where did you travel this week?’ We would trade stories about our children all the time. You have to love the people God sends into your life, because one day God is going to want them back. RIP Robin Sossamon…”.

Sossamon’s funeral arrangements have not been announced yet.
