Family Ties

Howard James Sikma was the beloved husband of Kennedy, a cherished partner who shared his journey through life. His love extended to his children, Connor (Madison), Brent (Elora), and Kailynn, and his step-children Nigel, Logan, London, and Ethan. Howard took immense pride in his role as “Grampa” to Emery and Brooks. He was also a dear brother to George (Jane), Julia (Rick), Yoland (Mitch), Tim (Joanne), Grace (Jim), and Joyce (Andy).

An Unwavering Love for Family

Family was at the core of Howard’s heart. He worked tirelessly to provide for and support his children. Farming with his kids was not only his source of pride but also his greatest accomplishment. The arrival of Emery and Brooks as his grandchildren brought immense joy to his life.

Holstein Breeding Passion

Howard James Sikma was a dedicated Holstein breeder, achieving the prestigious status of Master Breeder from Holstein Canada. His dedication to his craft shone as he showcased numerous Grand Champion cows at county shows. In 2023, Brent and Connor proudly continued his legacy by bringing home the Grand Champion title.

A Leafs Fan Forever

A true-blue Leafs fan, Howard celebrated not only his favorite team but also the camaraderie of friends, teammates, and his farm family and community. His love for his cherished Ontario Maple Leafs was unwavering.

The Love of His Life

Kennedy was the love of Howard’s life, his soulmate, and his best friend. He cherished her with a love that knew no bounds. Their last day together was a testament to their enduring love as they shared their favorite places in Picton. Dancing to their wedding song, Howard asked Kennedy about her love for the farm life and for being his wife. Her simple answer, “Yes!” encapsulated their unbreakable bond.

Final Farewell

Visitation to pay respects to Howard James Sikma will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Wednesday, October 18th, from 6 – 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be at MARANATHA CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 2805 Highway 2 Bowmanville, on Thursday, October 19th, at 11 am. Howard will find his rest at Bond Head Cemetery.

Memorial Donations may be made to Durham East 4H or The Heart & Stroke Foundation, organizations close to Howard’s heart.
