The Sparrows Point community is in mourning as they bid farewell to their beloved head football coach, Eric Webber. At the beginning of this month, Eric lost his courageous battle against stomach cancer, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and passion for football. With a 33-year career in the Baltimore County Public Schools, Eric’s impact as a teacher and coach was profound, earning him admiration and respect throughout the district.

Eric Webber devoted his entire 33-year career to the Baltimore County Public Schools as a physical education teacher. During this time, he held the distinction of being the longest-serving teacher in the district, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students.

 Football Coaching Journey Across Five Schools

In addition to his teaching career, Eric’s passion for football led him to coach at multiple schools throughout his career. From Owings Mills middle school to Parkville high school and Dundalk high school, Eric brought his expertise and dedication to each team he led.

In 2003, Eric Webber assumed the role of head coach for the football team at Sparrows Point. Prior to his leadership, the team had struggled, with only one victory in 40 matches. However, under Eric’s guidance, the Pointers experienced a remarkable turnaround.

A Legacy of Success and Perseverance

Eric Webber’s coaching prowess and the implementation of the Wing-T defensive scheme led to unprecedented success for the Sparrows Point football team. Notably, they never experienced a losing season during his tenure as head coach.
