Curtis’ legacy is one of love, athleticism, and an unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and the beautiful outdoors he cherished.

A Life of Accomplishments and Passion

Curtis Lowell Huckaby was born on October 15, 1983, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to his parents Curt Huckaby and Jeanie Watts. He was the youngest of three siblings and grew up with a zest for life that translated into his many accomplishments. He attended both Hood River Valley High School and Jonesboro High School, where he demonstrated his athleticism and sportsmanship on and off the field. Curtis’ dedication led him to graduate from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 2008. Furthering his education, he completed a renewable energy technology certificate from Columbia Gorge Community College in 2010.

A Passion for Sports and Nature

Curtis was a lifelong athlete with an unwavering love for sports. He was a collegiate rugby player and had a deep passion for lacrosse, soccer, skiing, hunting, and the great outdoors. His connection with the local landscape, especially Hood River Valley and Mount Hood, was profound. Curtis found solace and joy in the natural world, cherishing the physical activities that it offered. His love for sports extended beyond personal enjoyment; he was actively involved as a coach and supporter of his children’s endeavors.

A Devoted Father and Family Man

Above all, Curtis’ true purpose in life was as a loving father to his two children, Hugh and Madilyne (Madi). He shared his heart and home with them, raising them alongside their mother, Regan. Family was the cornerstone of Curtis’ life, and his bond with his siblings, brother Matt and sister Ashley, and his nieces and nephews was unbreakable. His kindness and dedication as a father left a profound impact on those around him.

A Legacy of Kindness and Connection

Curtis Huckaby’s impact extended far beyond his immediate circle. Known for his kindness and genuine interactions, he created lasting connections with family, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances. His presence exuded a special magic that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether playing sports, spending time outdoors, or simply sharing moments of camaraderie, Curtis left a positive imprint on the hearts of all those he encountered.

A Celebration of Life

Curtis is survived by his cherished son, Hugh Carter, and his beloved daughter, Madilyne Louise. He leaves behind his parents, Jeanie and Brian Watts, and Vickie Huckaby, along with his brother Matthew and sister Ashley. Curtis also leaves behind step-brothers Eric and Deric, nephews Dan and Max, and nieces Miles, Peri, and Eliza. He is preceded in death by his father, Curt.

A celebration of Curtis’ life will be held at Divots at Indian Creek Golf Course on Saturday, September 16, at 3 p.m. The community is warmly invited to attend and remember the extraordinary life of Curtis Lowell Huckaby, a man whose love, athleticism, and compassion continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
